 Abstract

In this study, w In this study, wIn this study, w In this study, w In this study, w In this study, w In this study, wIn this study, w In this study, we propose an intriguing metamaterial design method to achieve actively customized tuning of terahertz resonance properties. The proposed metamaterial devices are based on the inter-atomic bonding of meta-atoms, which is referred as ‘moleculization’ of meta-atoms, and realized by controlling the conductance of interconnected graphene bridges. Based on the numerical and experimental results, we confirm that the proposed moleculization system successfully exhibits a broad tuning range of resonance frequency in terahertz regime.

Transmission-Reflection Terahertz Spatial Light Modulator Using Electrically Tunable Dual-Mode Metamaterial

Abstract


  Terahertz imaging system has been extensively studied due to its high-solution and non-destructive characteristics implementing the considerable potential for security inspection, bio-chemical material identification, and real-time imaging technologies. Despite remarkable progresses, conventional terahertz imaging system requires high power source, expensive detector, and complicate and time-consuming systems. In this regard, single-pixel imaging technique has been implemented into the terahertz range to realize compressive and real-time imaging. However, previous researches allow the only transmissive or reflective imaging techniques owing to the passive or absorption type spatial light modulators (SLM). In this work, transmission-reflection terahertz spatial light modulator is presented using electrically tunable dual-mode metamaterial. By applying differential driving voltage on SLM, differential respective object images could be successfully obtained both for transmission and reflection mode exhibiting high correspondence with real objects based on dual-mode terahertz single-pixel imaging system.

Electrically controlled terahertz funneling for electromagnetically induced transparency analogue

 Abstract

In this study, we propose an electrically switchable funneling of terahertz waves for electrically induced transparency (EIT) analogue by actively controllable metamaterial. The proposed EIT metamaterials consist of the orthogonally combined metallic cut-wire (CW) pair and pseudo complimentary cut-wire (CCW), where graphene lines are laid on the center of pseudo-CCW to control the funneling of terahertz waves at the transmission resonance of the EIT structure by using ion-gel coplanar gating system. In experimental results, we successfully show the modulation depth of 54.9% and the group delay change by 1 ps at the transmission peak of our EIT analogue.

Abstract

By applying differential driving voltage on the proposed SLM, differential respective object images could be successfully obtained simultaneously both for transmission and reflection mode exhibiting high correspondence with real objects.

Synthetic Multi-Spectral Material Filter based on Terahertz Metamaterial Combined with Thin-Film Etalon Structure

Abstract

In this paper, we demonstrate a numerical and experimental study of novel synthetic multi-spectral material (SMM) filters for visible and terahertz ranges. The proposed filter is based on double-layered complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs) combine with a thin-film etalon structure. The fabricated SMM filter can be fully the fabricated by conventional photolithography process to be confirmed to work as the transmissive color filter as well as the polarization dependent terahertz filter.
